Annapoorneshwari Temple is a famous Parvati temple situated in Kannur, Kerala. The deity is worshipped as Annapurneshwari- The
mother who vanquishes hunger.
At this temple, Lord Krishna is co-located with Goddess Sree Annapoorneswari. It is
believed that Sree Annapoorneswari has visited the shrine which was under the sea, centuries ago
The temple is a Krishna shrine, the installation of the
Annapoorneshwari shrine was done by was built by Avittam thirunalRaja Raja Varma of
Chirakkal Kovilakam.
The local folklore says Annapoorneshwari Devi came from Kashi with two
other Devis' (Sree Chamundeswari amma (Kalarivathukkal Bhagavathy) and Tiruvarkadu
Bhagavathy) and a boatman in a golden ship, got down at Azhi Theeram
which is now known as Aazhiteeramthangi(Simply known "Ayiramthengu").
Amma asked the boat man to stay back, so that he could take her back to Kashi
when she wanted, due to which the boat man stayed back and built a mosque which
is now famous as the Olliangera Juma Masjid.[2] Famous vedic
scholar Karakkad Krishnan Namboodiri(known as vedavith) was a devotee of
Annapoorneshwari devi
